Thread starter Jz Start date May 21, Jz Member. So I received everything and put the bike together the best I could. And it seemed to work pretty flawlessly.

I rode around for a while and the torque aandspeed were amazing, but towards the end of the evening I noticed that when I let one of my friends try it out and it wasn't his faultthe chain started to fall off consistently. So I'm not sure if it is because I purchased a brand new chain and it may have stretched out a bit throughout the course of the day or I need to take a few links out and make it a little bit tighter So I'm basically not sure if it is a chain ring or if I should get a new chain possibly a wider one to allow for the thicker teeth or try one of the resolutions I mentioned above!

I hate having these questions because I like trying to figure these things out myself but the simplest things are often the biggest pains. What makes it worse is that the person that I was building it for decided that he wanted it done at a specific time, but I told him that I would have certain type of builds anything can go wrong. Also if you want to look aesthetically pleasing wiring has to be routed properly and everything else that you all know goes along with it.

Just to share he showed up this morning looking to pick up the bike and I told him he can have it but I did not want to give it to him the way that it was because God forbid something were to happen and if he were to get hurt or just have an overall bad experience I wouldn't want that on me.

My girlfriend told me to just give him the bike and be done with it but that's just not the way things are done especially with what we do exclamation point so we are certain bikes perform is a reflection upon the work that we do Sorry so long but if you can throw some ideas my way that would be great because I'm just going to start with the chain and do the good ol' process of elimination.

Thanks for your ear. Neal Member. I've done 3 HD installs now and am not impressed with them. If you're using Luna, they have three options. The standard aluminum chain ring.

The Luna eclipse ring is heavily dished about 1 inch of offset and I've found it rubs the chain stay on some bikes. I use the mini on my fat bike and can climb until I flip over backward! All three rings are narrow thin design and should aid in keeping the chain on. Just make sure you verify the ring is designed for the HD.

It has different bolt pattern than the Adrian Active Member. The Lekkie will fix a lot of chain drop issues; it has a decent offset to bring the chain line back in and it has a good narrow wide tooth profile. Some people have reported experiencing chain drop with the Eclipse with some chains because the teeth are so damn big - it also has so much offset that many have to use spacers to bring it out again.

My chain drop issues stopped with a Lekkie - and I also bought a good quality KMC ebike chain to help prevent premature stretching. Also, don't forget that you should take some links off your chain when reducing the tooth count on you chainring.Start out right by upgrading your ride with our ridiculously low sale prices!

Mid-drive motor can go fast and provide high torque as they have multiple gear ratios. So when need high torque it changes gear and lower the speed so you will have enough torque to climb. And when you need fast speed it changes gear internally and lowers torque which gives you faster speed.

And these motors mechanically designed for either high speed or high torque. Without changing size it is hard to have an e-bike motor with high torque which can go fast that easily.

Now I see market is full with hub motors which can go 28 mph and has 80 and even Nm torque. This is something against fundamentals of motors. We go a step further and send e-mail to some e-bike manufacturers in china and some motor companies and ask them if they can change label of the motor from w to w and without exception all agreed about it. That is why I see some w e-bikes which provide less power than a w hub motor.

Hope this test and report will be helpful to you. We will review several hub motors here that Bafang produces. We will check their claimed and actual motor powers and torques. Here we used the test center of TUV and we appreciate their help. Most of you will say motor watt power. First and most important thing which determines top speed of an e-bike is max rpm of the ebike motor. How many turns it can make under empty load is the top speed that motor can reach.

There are electrical motors produced for heavy jobs but low rpm. For example in powerplants they use such high power low rpm motors to crush coal. Hengtai is the best hub motor in our list based on performance. It provides highest torque and highest rpm which makes it fastest motor. Dapu Comes second in the list with reliable performance but they are left behind in competition.

Bafang is our third choice. They have enourmous production capacity and have good customer service in EU. Unfortunately their parameters of motor are all wrong or false advertised. Definitely it is important. Without getting into detail I need to tell you some parameters that you need to know about motor rating. Nominal power and peak power.

Nominal power is the power motor can deliver on continuous basis without having any issues.Forums New posts Search forums. What's new New posts New profile posts Latest activity. Members Registered members Current visitors New profile posts Search profile posts. Log in Register.

Thread starter Timpo Start date Feb 19, Timpo Well-Known Member. I was looking for a Frey AM alternative and look what I found. There aren't many full suspension bike with Bafang Ultra at low price. What do you think about this one? I was looking at AliExpress and found this frame kit.

There are 4 options, and shows different prices depending on what option you click. Why an alternative? There is not really another close alternative that I know of with the Ultra.

Biktrix sells some bikes with the Ultra drive however the rest of the components are not up to par with what you get from Frey with the Rockshox front, Magura brakes etc. Last edited: Feb 19, I found this bike, it's powered by Ultra but for some reason it's W? I did email Frey asking for a price and shipping cost I'll let you know.

Not a fan of fat tire, but looks exactly like a Jaggernaut with much less price tag. I wouldn't buy from that bike. The components like the Zoom front suspension, rear, brakes etc are junk. The Frey uses way better parts from tires to brakes to suspension. You cannot compare the two. So Frey got back to me. The difference in price depends on components and all models come with w Ultra motor, I am thinking about the black one, though I already have 5 ebikes and 2 electric motorcycles - so not sure how much more I can store and use.

The Bafang motor conversion kit installation is a DIY project that requires no specialty expertise — simply install the parts, plug in the connectors and zip-tie we include zip ties for free the cables!Mid drives are the holy grail power-providers for electric bikes. When compared to a hub motor, a mid drive is an elegant solution. This translates to a happier more efficient motor and a lighter better balanced e-bike.

Why a lighter bike? When going through the gears, you dont need as heavy a motor to propel you up hills without smoking, and you dont need as much battery because a mid drive is considerably more efficient than a hub motor especially when climbing. If a manufacturer is looking to do a quick and cheap solution they will go with a hub motor E-bike.

Hubs will continue to be the simplest and thus least expensive method of adding E-assist. When you get into mid drives they are much harder to design and produce, more expensive, and made in smaller numbers. So why pay the extra money to go with a mid-drive and not go with a hub motor? This is an important question. Check out our Hub Motor Break Down story to help ponder.

However, mid drives come with their drawbacks. Also they are less intuitive to ride with since you have to ride changing gears and always must consider which gear you are in. Check out this video from a Guerrilla Electric biker which does a good job of illustrating the advantages of mid drive bikes with this video, while overcoming many of the drawbacks. This is a mid drive hub motor that was cheap to build, is quiet, and is not that complicated:.
